Rush-Sleeth, Linda. Roll of Honour. Brant O.G.S., 2013 640 p. illus.
Roll of Honour – For the Brant County area men and women who made the Supreme Sacrifice from the Boer War to Afghanistan.
Linda Rush-Sleeth, one of Brant’s dedicated volunteers, took on our Roll of Honour project, spending countless hours researching, photographing, transcribing and compiling a massive amount of information from the numerous war memorials in the Brant County area, and many other sources. Linda was asked to complete the project which had been started years before by Brant volunteers Shirley Sills, Audrey Elcomb and Frank Elcomb, himself a World War II veteran, but was put aside until more information could be gathered.
The result is three binders totalling 640 pages, including a 160 page index, and a listing of the numerous sources. Along with photos of Honour Rolls, war memorials and their location are those of service men and women, newspaper articles, and information about companies whose employees volunteered for service.
Linda’s research is an important documentation of area men and women who served and gave their lives for Canada and our freedom, and with Honour Rolls having gone missing in the past, a timely one that reinforces their importance.
Thank you Linda for this important contribution to our Library.
