Fairview H-S Learns About Micro-Wave Communications

An article published in the Brantford Expositor regarding a meeting of the Fairview Memorial School's Home and School Association meeting for the year 1958-59 reads, in part, "'Radio and TV Night' of the Fairview Home and School Association featured Mr Don A, representative from the Bell Telephone Company of Canada, as guest. He spoke about the expanding services of his company and showed construction of the micro-wave towers which permit direct, long-distance dialing. He said 138 of these towers girdle Canada at 30 mile intervals. Television programs are also beamed through the micro-wave medium. A program from Montreal would be relayed to Vancouver 1/50 of a second later. Mr A's talk was illustrated by a film, full of glorious Canadian scenery, titled 'A Nation in Touch'"

Wonder what the committee thinks now of our instantaneous system of fibre-optics? It is amazing to see the advances in technology in 50 years! Wonder what the next 50 will bring.
